On Wednesday, April 9th at 8pm, ISSUE invites Members and special guests to gather at the 22 Boerum Pl. theater for a powerful and immersive solo performance by drummer Val Jeanty. A true innovator and “soundchemist,” Jeanty is a pioneer of Afro-Electronica (also known as “Electro-Vodou”), weaving Haitian Vodou rhythms with electronic instrumentation. Resonant Ritual is more than a performance—it’s a shared sonic journey, designed to transmute, transform, and transcend. Through intuitive evocation and evolving sonic textures, Jeanty invites us into a space of deep listening and collective resonance, where sound becomes a catalyst for connection, expansion, and elevation.

Having last performed at ISSUE in 2011 as part of the Brooklyn Book Festival, Jeanty returns to share this sonic alchemy soundscape experience exclusively with ISSUE Members and extended community. The evening will also feature a raffle with a chance to win two complimentary tickets to any ISSUE event this year, a copy of the forthcoming The Quiet Sun LP (Dinzu Artefacts, 2025) by Sarah Hennies & Tristan Kasten-Krause, and more!

ISSUE Members can RSVP to this event for free using their unique code at checkout. Members can also add a +1 to their reservation.
